Thoughts about Therapy
Our life stories/histories/beliefs influence how we interact in the world around us. I have noticed all behaviors make sense when placed in the context of our lived realities. Society regularly tells us that we “should” be this or doing that and it can leave us feeling that we are somehow not enough.
Situations of grief can strike us unexpectedly and how we process life changes can impact our functioning. Humans are multidimensional; we are capable of feeling multiple and conflicting feelings. Frequently the struggles and pains of life can saturate our experiences; this can throw us out of alignment with ourselves and our lives. What can be forgotten in the busy noise of everyday life is that both our personal narratives, beliefs and behavioral patterns are fluid and can be compassionately reimagined.
It feels important to recognize that this work is both a learning and unlearning, a process that is much more than a binary understanding of good/bad or right/wrong than we may have been taught to believe.
Therapy can be both hard and rewarding.
I approach this work with the awareness that everyone will be shaped differently by their struggles and I want to meet you where you are now. I will be with you to hold what you cannot carry alone. We will work together to outline and implement ways to restore your flow of energy and attention, so we can illuminate your desired path forward.
